Timothy O'Meara Mathematics Library

When the Department of Mathematics relocated to Hurley Hall and Hayes-Healy Center in 2001, the Mathematics Library moved to the lower level of Hayes-Healy Center. The space was blessed by Fr. Hesburgh, C.S.C. in 2002. In 2008 the library was renamed in honor of O. Timothy O'Meara [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O._Timothy_O%27Meara]. O'Meara, who was known for his work in linear groups and quadratic forms, joined the faculty in 1962, and in 1978 became the University of Notre Dame's first lay Provost. In summer of 2020 the library's collection moved to the Hesburgh Library. The space was renamed the O’Meara Commons and is now dedicated to supporting students on their mathematical journeys, through the Math Help Room and the Math Bunker.
